Are you in search of a small and easy practice to bring more joy and gratitude into your life?
✨ Glimmers, or small moments of joy, are often seen as the opposite of triggers. Triggers cause us to have a sympathetic or parasympathetic response (i.e., fight, flight, freeze, fawn), whereas glimmers cause an empathetic response (i.e., a sense of being validated, seen, and heard).
✨Chemically, triggers cause our bodies to release stress hormones (i.e., adrenaline, cortisol), which is attributed to fatigue, irritability, headaches, digestive issues, anxiety or depression, weight gain, and more. In contrast, glimmers assist in releasing the build-up of cortisol and allow us to more readily reach a state of calm and safety.
✨In short, glimmers are small moments of positivity that promote feelings of joy, peace, and connectedness. The Daily Glimmers Gratitude Journal combines gratitude journaling with glimmer reflection to further compound the positive effects on your mental health and well-being. It also makes a great gift!
